Description

This is the long, catalog/marketing description of the product.Over 350 species of birds are either permanent residents, regular breeders, or annual migrants in Kentucky, making the Bluegrass State a prominent location for learning about and finding birds. The varied terrain that includes the Appalachian Mountains, river valleys, and flat plains supports various ecosystems, such as hardwood forests, grasslands, marshes, and lakes. Wetlands, in particular, are great places to experience magnificent congregations of waterfowl. With such ubiquitous bird life, it helps to have a starting point for learning the common species. The portable guide Kentucky Birds is a handy tool for getting acquainted with 140 common and familiar species. This beautifully illustrated reference also includes an ecoregion map showing over 20 bird-finding hotspots and learning sites. Laminated for durability, this lightweight, 12-panel pocket folding guide is the ideal companion for educators, learners, naturalists, and birders who wish to forge a deeper connection with the land through its attendant bird life. Made in the USA.
