Lawrence County is fortunate to have newspapers which survived the years of the late 1800s, while other county newspapers of the era didn't exist or have been lost to time. This book represents clippings from 1876 through 1883. The White family of Moulton established a newspaper dynasty with the Advertiser that lasted well into the 20th Century. Interesting articles are presented describing the rich history of Lawrence County and the Tennessee Valley as a whole. Particular attention is given to recording births, marriages, and obituary notices. This book also contains 57 chapters of Col. James E. Saunder's "Early Settlers of Lawrence County" which begins with the Indian days and guides the reader through the early history of Lawrence County up through the description of men and actions of the 9th and 16th Alabama Infantry Regiments.
